  • Whistler 2016

For ISFR, 2016 is the year of the big one.  Celebrating Whistler Rotary’s 40th  anniversary, on February 20-27th, 2016 we are returning to North America’s largest ski area Whistler.

Time is running out.  Book now!  More information on our detailed event page.

The combination of 5,280 feet  vertical on more than 200 marked runs (25% green,55% blue, 25% black) covering  8,171 acres of terrain, 16 alpine bowls, and three glaciers with long high-speed lifts makes Whistler-Blackcomb an unmatched skiing destination.   Add in an of average 1,164 centimetres (458 inches) of snow annually, restaurants where you want them up and down the mountain, sightseeing on the PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola with one of the longest ski seasons in North America and you will find something for everyone, every day.   Check out Whistler Blackcomb.

No wonder that Ski Magazine’s reader survey has  voted Whistler Blackcomb as it’s #1 Ranked Overall North American Resort again for 2016. Readers also gave the resort top marks for Terrain Variety, Off-Hill Activities, Après and Terrain Parks.

Schedule

ISFR in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Whistler and the Rotary Club of Whistler Millennium have arranged a jam packed schedule of activities tailored for the ISFR trip.  Some highlights include:

  • Skiing with guides. Whistler and Blackcomb are humongous mountains.  The best way to learn about them is to ski with a local; the Rotary Clubs are ready, willing and able.
  • Tech Camp  New for ISFR this year. A three day progressive program designed for men and women skiers aged 55 and older who would describe themselves as capable skiers on green/blue runs and want to improve their technique.  It’s a great opportunity to learn the latest skills while having a great time.
  • Gala Evening banquet at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler . Conde Naste Traveler recently voted the Fairmont Chateau one of the top 20 resorts in Canada.

Don’t ski or ride?  Or, do you just want to take a day off?

Then Whistler has plenty of activities that don’t involve skiing or boarding. Here is a sampling.  There is much more to do off the slopes

  • Walk through the award winning village.  The site of the Whistler award ceremonies for the  Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter games.
  • Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre. Learn more about the culture of the First Nations.
  • Audain Art Gallery Whistler’s newest cultural hot spot.  Opening late January  2016,
  • Scandinave Spa  Relax and rejuvenate in the hot baths and refreshing waterfalls.
  • Whistler Olympic Park  enjoy cross country skiing at the site of the Vancouver 2010 Nordic events.
  • Whistler Sliding Centre  Site of the Vancouver 2010 skeleton, luge and bob sled events.  For something different, you can take a bobsled run with an experienced pilot.  A ride you will not forget!
  • ISFR Art Gallery tours, cooking seminars, black bear presentations and much more.

The Whistler organizing committee is really excited about the return of the ISFR.

It will be a great trip and we look forward to seeing you in Whistler!
